The power of a safe and stable environment in the lives of our customers is dramatic: nearly 90% of CERTAINS customers who live in a safe and decent home, stay clean and sober, keep a job and maintain good health for at least a year.
That is why SOME has been providing affordable and safe housing with support programmes for the poor and homeless for 19 years.And in that time, we have placed 3,200 family members and single adults.
A housing for single homeless adults: SOME provides single adults with affordable facilities and single rooms.Tenants sign a renewable annual lease agreement and pay rent and maintenance costs.
The rent is set at 30% of each resident's income, allowing participants to save for self-sufficient living.
Residents must follow the house rules, stay sober and pay their rent on time.
Housing for homeless families: SOME provides decent affordable apartments for extremely poor and homeless families in the District.  Since the fall of 2005, SOME has opened three new affordable housing programs for 43 families.
These programs usually include playgrounds and community spaces for the enrichment of the nearly 150 children living in our family home.
All families and single adults have case management and other social services to help them become even more independent and self-sufficient.
