About This Building
The Metropolitan Council Housing and Redevelopment Authority (Metro HRA) is committed to assisting low income seniors, singles, families, and persons with disabilities obtain decent and affordable housing in nearly 100 cities in the region. Affordable housing is essential in order to foster economic growth and provide stability for our communities and neighborhoods.
HUD logoThe Metro HRA administers the largest Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program in the state of Minnesota and provides federally funded rent subsidies to private landlords on behalf of low- income renters. We deliver other housing programs in partnership with state and local agencies that help persons with special needs to live as independently as possible. The HRA also administers the Family Affordable Housing Program that provides additional affordable rental housing opportunities in suburban locations. As a regional entity, Metro HRA provides an efficient method for effective delivery of a variety of housing programs and related services.
Metro HRA Goals
* Help low-income households throughout the metropolitan area obtain decent housing while maintaining their rent at an affordable level.
* Promote freedom of housing choice particularly in areas where there are no concentrations of poverty for person of all races and ethnic backgrounds.
* Help stabilize individuals and families in suitable housing so they may become more economically self-sufficient.
* Upgrade and revitalize the region's housing stock in order to promote more livable communities and neighborhoods.
* Collaborate with other units of government and community organizations to make efficient use of resources and serve the needs of low income persons throughout the region.
