Human Solutions develops permanentaffordable rental housing, manages our real estate assets for quality andstability, and provides comprehensive resident services based on ourunderstanding that affordable housing is only the first step towards familiesachieving self-sufficiency.   

Human Solutions owns 608 units of housing,in 16 locations in East Portland, Gresham and Fairview. All units areincome restricted, with a maximum incomeceilingof 60% of Area Median Incomealthough many of our residents earn far less-typically about 30% of median or$20,350 annually (Note: This figure changes annually, contact for updated figures) for a family of four. Typically our housing units are 2 and 3bedrooms, but we also have 4 and 5 bedroom units for the many large familiesthat we house. Most of our new units are equipped with washer/dryers and ourprojects have community rooms and playgrounds.  

Resident Services works to address the needsof residents who are often isolated from our community institutions due to educational,economic and cultural barriers and the complexity of the fragmented systemsthat provide services to low-income families. Resident Services programs andactivities engage children and adults in learning new skills and in developingrelationships with their neighbors and the broader community.  More than 70% of the contacts between theResident Services staff and the residents address basic needs such as rent andutility assistance, food and clothing and helping families advocate forthemselves.
