Description:The Colonial Village Apartments (CV) is a 162-unit apartment community of red-brick, low-rise buildings on more than 50 acres with mature trees, winding pathways, and large expanses of lawn.

A story in the 11/19/11 Washington Post said, \"Residents say the community is...parklike, serene, and an oasis in Arlington's busy and increasingly high-rise Rosslyn-Ballston corridor.\" Wesley Housing's CV Apartment units sit adjacent to four other Colonial Village communities including three condominiums (Colonial Villages I, II and III) and The Commons.

Location: Located in Arlington, Virginia, at 1702-1734 N. Troy Street (114 units) and 2101-2015 N. 18th Street (48 units), between Lee Highway and Wilson Boulevard, within walking distance of both the Courthouse and Rosslyn Metro stations. It is also within walking distance of Rosslyn, Courthouse, and Clarendon offices, restaurants, and shopping.

Georgetown is less than two miles away, just across the Key Bridge.

Leasing Information: (703) 525-5555Amenities: There are no cookie cutter designs. Each unit has its own unique charm and character.

All units were renovated in 2012 with full replacements of kitchen and baths, new hardwood floors, insulation, and HVAC systems as well as water conservation, air quality, and energy efficient improvements.

Not only did the project meet and exceed Earthcraft standards, CV was named the 2012 Multifamily Renovation Project of the Year in the EarthCraft Virginia Sustainable Leadership Awards.

There are two on-site common laundry rooms and interior bike racks. History: Colonial Village is historically significant as it is the first large-scale multi-family rental housing project insured by the FHA.

Developed in 1935-40 by Gustave Ring and designed in the Colonial Revival style by prominent Washington, DC, architect Harvey Warwick, the community was built to help house the federal workers who descended on Washington under the New Deal.

It became an instant hit.

When the first phase was completed in 1935, there were 276 apartments and a waiting list of 10,000 people. In 2012, Wesley Housing renovated the property converting 80% of the units from unrestricted market rate rentals to restricted affordable rentals for at least 60 years, an extraordinary accomplishment in this high-income area.

Many men, women, and children now have a permanent, affordable home that allows them to live closer to where they work, take advantage of nearby public transportation, and attend award-winning schools.
