Eligibility
The Oakland Housing Authority (OHA) Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list for 2 and 3-Bedroom apartments at Oakland Affordable Housing Preservation Initiatives (OAHPI) Scattered Sites is closed.
The OHA last accepted applications for this waiting list from February 1, 2022, until February 18, 2022. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.
To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.
The maximum income limits for each household size were as follows:
- 1 Person $47,950 | 5 Persons $74,000
- 2 Persons $54,800 | 6 Persons $79,500
- 3 Persons $61,650 | 7 Persons $84,950
- 4 Persons $68,500 | 8 Persons $90,450
This waiting list had the following preferences:
- Family preference - Applicant families with two or more persons, or a single person applicant that is 62 years of age or older, or a single person applicant with a disability, qualify for this preference.
- Residency preference - Applicants who live or work in the City of Oakland at the time of the application interview and/or applicants that lived or worked in the City of Oakland at the time of submitting their initial application and can verify their previous residency/employment at the applicant interview, qualify for this preference.
- Literal Homeless preference - Individual or family who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence, meaning:
- Has a primary nighttime residence that is a public or private place not meant for human habitation; or
- Is living in a publicly or privately operated shelter designated to provide temporary living arrangements (including congregate shelters, transitional housing, and hotels and motels paid for by charitable organizations or by federal, state and local government programs); or
- Is exiting an institution where (s)he has resided for 90 days or less and who resided in an emergency shelter or place not meant for human habitation immediately before entering that institution
150 applicants were placed on the 2-Bedroom waiting list by random lottery, weighed by order of preferences.
600 applicants were placed on the 3-Bedroom waiting list by random lottery, weighed by order of preferences.
The OHA expected this waiting list to be active for 12 to 18 months.
