This waiting list is for Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher rental housing assistance in Franklin County, Pennsylvania.
The Franklin County Housing Authority (FCHA) will waiting list is now closed. It was last open on September 17, 2024. Initially, the waiting list was only scheduled to remain open until 200 applications had been received. On the evening of September 16, 2024 the PHA posted on its website that the 200 application limit had been reached but it was keeping the waiting list open until 4:30 PM on September 17. Prior to that, the waiting list was last open in June of 2023.
Affordable Housing Online Founder Dave Layfield said "The Franklin County Housing Authority waiting list opening in Franklin County, Pennsylvania will likely only be open for one day given the housing authority is only accepting 200 applications. I would recommend any one wishing to apply have their application and ALL required documents ready to submit prior to the waiting list opening on September 16. The PHA has stated that any application that is not complete will be rejected. To insure you get on the waiting list, pay close attention to the application form and its required documents."
There were four ways to apply during the opening period:
- Complete the online application. (The application will be posted before the application window opens but was not available when this was written on August 16, 2024.)
- Print the paper application. (The application will be posted before the application window opens but was not available when this was written on August 16, 2024.)
- Pick up an application from one of the FCHA offices, located at 436 West Washington Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201 and 202 Elder Avenue, Waynesboro, PA 17268, from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Monday to Friday.
- Complete the application in person at either one of the FCHA office's, addresses mentioned above.
Once the paper application were completed, it must have been either:
- Dropped off at any of the FCHA office's Section 8 Application drop boxes, addresses mentioned above.
- Faxed to (717) 753-3479.
- Email the application and documents to [email protected].
The maximum income limits for each household size are as follows:
- 1 Person $32,450 | 5 Persons $50,100
- 2 Persons $37,100 | 6 Persons $53,800
- 3 Persons $41,750 | 7 Person $57,500
- 4 Persons $46,350 | 8 Persons $61,200
Preferences for the September 2024 waiting list opening were not confirmed but when the waiting list last opened in 2023, it had the following preferences:
- Families who are victim of domestic violence.
- Homeless
- Working preferences (includes elderly families or families whose head or spouse is receiving income based on their inability to work.)
It is not yet known how selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list.
