Eligibility
The Vermont State Housing Authority (VSHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications for households that qualify for the Disaster and Move-up Housing preferences on April 1, 2024 at 8:00 am ET, until further notice
Please note: To qualify, households must be eligible for one of the following preferences:
- Disaster Preference: This preference is available to families who are displaced due to fire, flood, naturaldisaster, or condemnation by a local, State, or Federal Agency
- Move-up Preference: This preference is available to families who are currently receiving rental assistance through a time limited program administered by VSHA and in compliance:
- VSHA Continuum of Care Program- Rapid-Rehousing
- VSHA Family Unification Program for Youth in Transition (FUP-Y)
- VSHA Foster Youth to Independence (FYI)
- VSHA Continuum of Care Program- Shelter + Care
There are four ways to apply while the waitlist is open:
- Complete the online application that is available on the VSHA website
- Print the paper application
- Pick up an application from the VSHA office, located at One Prospect Street, Montpelier, VT 05602, from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday
- Call the VSHA at 802‐828‐1991
This waiting list has the following preferences:

Selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, by order of preferences
